Spring Break programs at the library

A full week of no school starts Friday afternoon! We have several programs going on at Dundee and Randall Oaks for grades 6 and up.

Teen Gaming Club
Saturday, March 21 @ 2 p.m. - Dundee Library Meeting Room

Come hang out with your friends and have fun playing Wii U, PS3, and Xbox 360 games! Bring along your DS and battle each other! Play Yu-Gi-Oh! Feel free to bring in your own games and controllers. Snacks and refreshments provided.

Insurgent Movie Release Party
Monday, March 23 @ 2 p.m. - Dundee Library Craft Room

Come discuss the book and movie with other fans, answer trivia questions, and create Divergent-inspired duct tape cuff bracelets. Please register.

Anime Club
Tuesday, March 24 @ 7 p.m. - Dundee Library Meeting Room
 
Discuss your favorite manga, make buttons and other fun crafts, play Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh, and more! Share your ideas of the activities you'd like to have at upcoming events and meet other anime fans. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Craft Lab: Duct Tape
Thursday, March 26 @ 2 p.m. - Randall Oaks Branch Library

Make flower pens, bracelets, phone cases, wallets, and more out of colorful duct tape. Please register.

TAG Meeting
Saturday, March 28 @ 2 p.m. - Dundee Library Craft Room

Plan future library events, review and discuss current teen literature, and make crafts and decorations. A great way for middle school and high school students to earn volunteer hours!

Teen Gaming Club news

The next meeting of the Teen Gaming Club is Saturday, September 7, from 2-4 p.m. I am happy to share that from now on we will have three different consoles available: Wii, PS3, and XBOX 360 (with Kinect). We have four standard controllers for each console. Feel free to bring in your own games to play!

Also, the library will be hosting a big International Games Day event on November 16 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. We will have games set up in the Meeting and Craft rooms for all ages -- videogames, card games, and board games. I'm looking for teens to help plan or volunteer at the event. If you are interested let me know!

The library is looking for new TAG members to help plan teen programs and share what they would like to do at the library. At this meeting we'll also work on fun autumn decorations for the teen area!

We're having a Halloween Party with games, fun snacks, and a raffle for prizes! Costumes are encouraged!

This summer you can see Captain America and Thor in The Avengers, along with Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, Nick Fury, and Hawkeye. Get ready for all the superhero fun by watching two recent Marvel films back to back. Come for one, or stay for both!

Teen Gaming Club meets on Friday

Enjoy snacks and beverages while you play Wii games after school. Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been a popular choice for the game to play at the last few meetings. We also have the games Mario Party 8, Mario Kart, Just Dance 2, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Rock Band, & Guitar Hero. Several teens have also brought in Wii and GameCube games from home to play in the past. I'll be bringing in my copy of Just Dance 3, too! Please register if it is your first time attending.

Teen Gaming Club

Join us in the Meeting Room this Friday, January 14 from 3-5 PM for the Teen Gaming Club. Choose to play the Wii games Rock Band 3, Guitar Hero, Mario Kart, Just Dance, or Just Dance 2. You can also bring in your own Wii games. While you wait to play on the Wii you can choose from our selection of board games to play, or just eat snacks and socialize with your friends.
